Food we tried awarded with Michelin Star in 2016

Of course there are plenty of other good food in Singapore. But these restaurants gained recognition by Michelin; some I was very glad and excited and some to disagree. Food is acquired by each individual liking, Michelin's guide is just adknowlegded by anonymous inspectors that have many rating experience and they try the best consumer recommendations after all. You may or may not agree to it. Well but every restaurants in the list definitely prove to be good to be able to stand out from so many food places in Singapore.

You may or may not agree to it. Well but every restaurants in the list definitely prove to be good to be able to stand out from so many food places in Singapore.

Here are some of the ones that I've tried and are awarded with Michelin's star this year:

1. Putien - Fujian (Chinese) Cuisine
Awarded with 1 star. Every dish offered are fresh and tasty. Stir-fried yam, shredded meat with bun, sweet and sour pork with lychee, Lor Mee and Heng Hwa Bee hoon are my favourites. Affordable and suitable to bring the elderly in your family to dine here.

2. Shinji at Raffles hotel (beach road) - Japanese Cuisine

Awarded with 1 star. Been here 3 times and will always return for more. Authentic omakase sushi experience. Fresh fish imported from Tsukiji (fish market from Japan) that will melt in your mouth and complements with warm sushi rice. Each sushi is made with heart. The chefs are friendly and I look up to them for their skills and years of determination and hardwork. What's so different from other omakase sushi places is that Shinji is slightly more affordable and traditional. Shinji maintains the traditional Edomae-style sushi - "During Edo era, sushi was meant to be casual food where customers will quickly eat the sushi with their hands, drink some tea,  wipe their hands and depart the food stall." (Read this from Sushi Jiro website)
This is Similar to the style of the lengendary Sukiyabashi Jiro. This is why I keep saying it's authentic. Also, the chef will brush either Nikiri soy sauce or Nitsume sauce on top of the sushi and right amount of Wasabi will be added in between the layer of fish and sushi rice. It'll be presented to customer right after and should be eaten right away as its all about timing and the right temperature. So you will not find extra soy sauce or wasabi bottles on the counter.
I am very amazed by the art of sushi hence sharing what I've read with you all. Hope you'll enjoy it like I do.
I don't know how they do it but the sushi is glistening looks so mouthwatering.

3. Songfa Ba Kut Teh
Under Bib Gourmand. Ba Kut Teh is one of my staple meal and favourite. However I prefer Ng ah sio..as I prefer the soup to be more peppery. There's 2 kinds of Ba Kut Teh soup; peppery or herbal. Songfa is in between and a little pricey for the portion they give. But their dark sauce complements the meat well. Fried dough fritter is also a must order whenever I have Ba Kut Teh. There are several other Ba Kut Teh stores that are worth to try: Ng Ah Sio, Founders and Ya Hua.

4. Tian Tian Chicken Rice
Under Bib Gourmand- I don't know about this either. As a Singaporean Chinese, Chicken rice has been common staple food for me since young. I tried many different chicken rice and still love 925 chicken rice at yishun the most. It's more or less the same.. And for health concern, Tian tian is slightly oilier. You can try Mandarin's chatterbox too although it's 10 times the price.. But with better quality and if you want to pamper yourself.. Why not?

5. Yhingthai - Thai Cuisine
Under Bib Gourmand- Hands down to this beautiful Thai restaurant. What I meant was the food here is beautiful. Everything is at good standard and delicious. Must try is the Khao Tang Nah Tang (rice cracker with chicken and shrimp dip), Peek Kai Sord Sai (deboned stuffed chicken wings) and Yam Ma Muang (mango salad tossed in spicy dressing). Both Olive and Pineapple rice are good choice too.

6. Shisen Hanten
Earning 2 Michelin stars. Go and try the duck, it's way better than London duck. Sichuan cuisine by a Japanese chef Chen Kentaro. Japan is the key to every good food. Since it's Sichuan cuisine, they are well known for spicy food. Mapo tofu is not to be missed.

7. Fishball Story
Tried this at Timbre+ and im not sure is it because chilli is added or is just not very nice..and maybe because it's not the main stall.
